Job Title

Patient Care Technician (PCT) – Psychiatric/Behavioral Health

Location

Bronx, NY | Acute Inpatient Psychiatry

Contract | Mid Shift | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, intensive psychiatric and behavioral health environment
• Perform clinical tasks including vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and blood glucose monitoring
• Engage with children and adolescents using trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches
• Support safe management of patients, including appropriate application of restraints and seclusion protocols in accordance with facility policy
• Assist nursing and clinical staff with patient care activities across the unit

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Graduate of a New York State-certified Patient Care Technician (PCT) program
• Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral healthcare in a high-volume, intensive care setting (or satisfactory equivalent)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Certified to perform vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and blood glucose monitoring
• MAB (Managing Assaultive Behavior) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Associate’s Degree in psychology, human services, or a related field
• Prior experience working with youth in behavioral health, educational, or residential settings
• Experience in acute inpatient psychiatry or a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP)
• Completion of a recognized crisis intervention training program (e.g., CPI, TRUST, TCI, or equivalent)
