Key Responsibilities

• Function as an integral part of the perioperative team as the first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse during the intraoperative period.
• Apply principles of asepsis and sterile technique to maintain a sterile surgical environment throughout procedures.
• Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist in the organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to support an efficient and cost-effective operating room environment.
• Participate in room turnover and set-up; maintain and clean equipment and identify items needing repair per policy.
• Perform sterilization, disinfection, and documentation of loads per established policy.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology or a Certificate of completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• Minimum 1 year of surgical technician experience.
• Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures.
• Applied knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology as it relates to surgical patient care.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• IDPH Fingerprinting
