Key Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care across neonate through geriatric populations in the pre-operative, intra-operative, PACU, and post-operative settings
• Performs both circulating RN and scrub RN duties independently; must be able to scrub without assistance
• Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness; obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all surgical team needs are met
• Communicates continuously with surgeon and anesthesia provider regarding patient condition, count status, and lab or imaging results during procedures
• Manages surgical counts per policy, accurately records and labels specimens, and completes all documentation within shift
• Serves as patient advocate throughout all perioperative phases, including discharge planning and patient/family education on pain management and post-operative care

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s, Diploma, or BSN degree
• Active Idaho RN license or compact state RN license required upon hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within one year of hire
• Must be able to scrub independently
• Must be available for scheduled on-call shifts to support emergency surgical services

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Multiple years of surgical / operating room nursing experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of anesthetic drugs, actions, and side effects
• Experience with instrument processing, sterilization, and biological monitoring
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based computer programs and electronic charting
