Registered Nurse – ICU

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 8-bed ICU setting with a 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing primarily medical ICU diagnoses
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG strips; manage ventilated patients
• Collaborate with in-house Hospitalist or Intensivist, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), and Pharmacy (24/7) teams to coordinate patient care
• Perform bedside shift report and participate in self-scheduling within a 4-week rolling schedule
• Float as first to float to the MedSurg unit (maximum 4 patients) and to sister facilities as needed; mid-shift float to another facility is rare but possible
• Rotate holiday coverage with core staff, expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips and manage ventilated patients
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any associated CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Completion of the Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam through Relias is required prior to acceptance; must be completed within 24–48 hours of offer (pass/fail; two attempts allowed). A valid DYS exam completed within the past 12 months may be accepted.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a medical ICU environment
• Comfort working in a smaller ICU setting with an adjacent PACU
• Experience with charge nurse responsibilities or break relief coverage
