Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing common diagnoses including CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Titrate drips including analgesics for pain management, anticoagulants for blood clot treatment, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• Perform and document NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) assessments as required
• Manage and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, and ventilators
• Self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule in alignment with department staffing plans
• Float within Zone 4 as determined by the Nurse Manager based on departmental needs

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of Kansas (or compact eligibility)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required
• Proficiency with NIHSS assessments
• Experience titrating IV drips
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; valid driver’s license must be submitted
• Clinicians must be present in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are conducted remotely

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Medical/Surgical inpatient setting
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and independent strip reading
• Experience working alongside nurse aides in a team-based care model (aide ratio 1:5)
