Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality x-ray and CT images of specified body areas as directed by the physician or radiologist, while applying proper radiation protection measures
- Work within the EMR system to generate and complete exam orders, and utilize PACS systems for releasing and transmitting images
- Perform, record, and analyze QC data to maintain accuracy and precision; take appropriate corrective action as needed
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment through equipment checks, area cleaning, and temperature monitoring in accordance with regulatory and facility policies
- Perform portable x-ray procedures as requested by the Emergency Department and nursing units; assist with patient transport as needed
- Collaborate across departments to improve patient and staff experiences, and recommend process improvements for increased efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a JRCERT-approved radiological training program or equivalent
- Current ARRT registration (R.T.) required; CT (C.T.) credential required or willingness to obtain CT accreditation
- Current Iowa Radiologic Technologist Permit to Practice required
- BLS certification required
- Ability to stand 7–8 hours per workday and lift awkward loads up to 100+ lbs as needed
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, regulated imaging environment with the ability to triage and prioritize tasks effectively
- Familiarity with PACS systems and electronic medical records (EMR) platforms
- Experience performing portable x-ray procedures in acute care or emergency settings
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or support team members and contribute to departmental performance improvement initiatives
