Job Title

Certified Nurse Aide – Long Term Care

Key Responsibilities

• Observe and report on a variety of physical and/or mental symptoms and conditions for a caseload of patients
• Implement care and treatment procedures including taking vital signs, measuring output, and recognizing abnormal signs and symptoms
• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as eating/feeding, providing fluids, bathing, and dressing
• Support restorative care activities including use of assistive devices and range of motion exercises
• Assess each patient’s age-specific needs and independently provide age-specific direct personal care services
• Assist and participate in activities of the treatment team while adhering to infection control, universal precautions, and patient rights standards

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of work experience in a Long Term Care facility
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills, first aid, body mechanics, and basic medical and nursing terminology
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers must be obtained within six (6) months of employment
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand simple sentences in English and follow oral and written instructions precisely
• Ability to retain emotional stability under emotional and physical pressures and demonstrate respect toward patients with a variety of disabilities

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous work experience in Hawaii is a plus
• Knowledge of multiple and differing cultures
• Strong observation skills with the ability to accurately recall, report, and document a series of events
• Strong oral and written communication skills
