Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Float)

Contract | Nights | 3×12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Function as a float RN, assigned to units by the nursing supervisor based on staffing needs
• Provide direct patient care across a variety of acute care units including medical, surgical, oncology, ortho, neuro, cardiac, vascular, pulmonary, trauma, and observation
• Adapt clinical practice to varying patient populations and acuity levels across assigned units
• Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
• Maintain patient ratios that typically run 1:6, adjusting as needed per unit demands

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Tennessee RN license or valid compact (multi-state) RN license — must be in hand at time of submittal; pending licenses not accepted
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a comparable acuity hospital setting
• Prior experience with Cerner EMR is required
• 2 references required (may be pending at time of submittal)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience floating across multiple acute care specialties (e.g., medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, cardiac, ortho)
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Comfort working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with varying patient populations
