Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and plans of care for surgical patients in the operating room setting
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical coordinators, and surgical technicians to support patient well-being throughout surgical procedures
• Maintain sterile fields and oversee the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments
• Apply principles of aseptic practice and oversee the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for all surgical cases
• Maintain accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts per policy, and communicate results to the surgeon
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and established policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Massachusetts RN license
• ACLS upon hire, or active BLS with AHA ACLS to be obtained within 60 days of hire
• Ability to function effectively in an environment with competing priorities
• Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, and a proactive, can-do attitude

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior operating room nursing experience strongly preferred
• CNOR certification strongly preferred
• Familiarity with perioperative standards of practice and aseptic technique
