Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

Fort Bragg, CA | Critical Access Hospital

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, 10-Hour Consecutive Shifts, No Call

Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize and perform a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, immunology, bacteriology, and microbiology
• Employ positive patient identification procedures to ensure specimen integrity throughout pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing phases
• Perform proper specimen collection (including phlebotomy as necessary), labeling, handling, processing, transportation, and storage
• Evaluate and document quality control checks; review and correlate test results with diagnoses, flagging and communicating critical values promptly
• Adhere to HIPAA and all patient confidentiality guidelines and laboratory safety and maintenance protocols
• Train and supervise trainees, laboratory assistants, and clerks as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in the state of California
• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Allied Health Technologies, or equivalent
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum of two years of recent clinical laboratory experience
• EPIC experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratories (NCA)
• Experience in microbiology and limited core laboratory functions
• Prior experience in a critical access hospital or similar setting
