Job Title

Registered Nurse – PCU (Stepdown/Respiratory)

Contract (13 Weeks) | 12-Hour Night Shifts | Onsite | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care on a 26-bed step-down respiratory unit for patients with complex medical conditions including COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, GI bleeds, and those requiring ventilator support
• Manage and administer continuous intravenous therapies including cardiac and renal drips (amiodarone, Cardizem, Lasix, Bumex, dobutamine)
• Perform trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Maintain an expected RN-to-patient ratio of 5:1, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including hospitalists, respiratory therapy, IV team, and case management
• Float to other stepdown units requiring the same level of care as needed
• Document accurately using Cerner EMR

Required Qualifications

• Valid Ohio RN license or active compact RN license
• AHA BLS certification
• Valid driver’s license required at time of submittal
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Candidates residing within 30 miles of the facility may be subject to a reduced bill rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or respiratory unit setting
• Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• Experience with inotropic therapy and ventilator-dependent patient populations
• Comfort with patient handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts and Sara Steady/Flex systems
