Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 33-room Emergency Department, including rooms equipped with cardiac monitors and a dedicated triage area
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a high-volume department averaging approximately 210 patients
• Manage ER holds and board patients as needed, adhering to EMTALA requirements to stabilize and treat all patients regardless of insurance or ability to pay
• Perform thorough, accurate documentation in accordance with department and facility standards
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, midlevels, ER Techs, Respiratory Therapy (available 24/7), and Pharmacy (available 24/7 with Omnicell)
• Participate in self-scheduling with a weekend expectation of 2 weekends per 4-week period and 2 out of 3 assigned holidays

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Cerner EMR experience is required — please be prepared to indicate on your resume the facility where Cerner was used
• Strong, thorough documentation skills are essential

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Recent Cerner EMR experience preferred; candidates with recent experience may be eligible to test out of Cerner training
• Experience working in a high-volume Emergency Department setting
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring (GE systems) and central monitor stations
• Experience caring for stroke patients in a stroke-certified facility
