Certified Nursing Assistant / Care Technician

Syracuse, NY | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Onsite | Days | Variable shift structure: ED and Medical/Surgical units — expected 6, 12-hour shifts per two-week period; Pediatrics Float Pool — expected 4, 8-hour shifts and 4, 12-hour shifts per two-week period; every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Perform direct and indirect nursing care activities including obtaining vital signs, toileting, bathing, and feeding patients based on patient assignment
• Serve as a safety companion for patients identified as a safety risk
• Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth and development and respond to changing patient needs
• Work collaboratively with all members of the health care team; problem-solve and maintain a safe work environment
• Obtain, record, exchange, and convey patient information accurately and effectively
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold positive public relations and ethical decision-making

Required Qualifications

• Current New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of one year of patient care experience
• Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance
• Acute care experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in an Emergency Department or Medical/Surgical setting
• Experience in a Pediatrics or Float Pool environment
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-based care settings
