Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests accurately and in a timely manner following established guidelines and physician orders, reporting results in compliance with documented laboratory procedures
• Perform, record, and analyze quality control data to maintain accuracy and precision, and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from acceptable guidelines
• Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiate corrective action; perform preventive and corrective maintenance on instruments
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work areas, and monitoring temperatures in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Identify and resolve problems that may adversely affect test analyses, and notify supervisory or director-level personnel when appropriate
• Evaluate new testing methodology, recommend process improvements, and contribute to writing technical laboratory procedures

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, a related science field, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of all areas of the laboratory
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Certification by ASCP or AMT is preferred
• Knowledge of computerized document systems
• Experience mentoring, training, or directing laboratory team members
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new methodologies and approaches
