Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepares the OR suite with necessary supplies, equipment, medications, and other required materials prior to each procedure
• Performs patient verification using two identifiers, conducts timeouts upon suite entry, prior to incision, and prior to exiting the OR suite
• Appropriately positions and preps patients for procedures utilizing positional aides and established guidelines
• Supports the surgical team throughout procedures by responding to requests for extra supplies, blood, specimens, cultures, medications, and dressings
• Transports patients to PACU or designated unit and provides structured handoff to the receiving RN
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support integration of information across the healthcare team

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience
• CVOR experience required
• Active Illinois RN License in good standing
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or higher
• Must be comfortable floating to the General OR as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Level I Trauma experience highly preferred
