Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown / IMCU

Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a true telemetry/IMCU unit (38 beds) managing common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, renal failure, respiratory failure, alcohol withdrawal, and post-PCI patients
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–4 and collaborate with unit aides and resource RNs
- Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips; passing an onsite proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on day one is required
- Manage set-rate and protocol-driven drips including DKA, Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem (titration not required)
- Operate and monitor respiratory support equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC
- Conduct bedside shift reports with a strong focus on patient experience, HCAHPS scores, and core measures
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in California
- ACLS certification required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or a related specialty
- Must successfully pass an onsite proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on day one (Pass/Fail)
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR and GE Apex telemetry monitoring systems
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience as a travel nurse; first-time travelers with the required specialty experience are welcome
- Familiarity with high-acuity, high-census telemetry environments
- Strong self-motivation and team-oriented work style with commitment to patient experience initiatives
