Registered Nurse – Cardiac Step-Down (IMC/PCU)

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiac step-down unit serving patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedural cardiac patients (cath/stent, pacer/ICD/ablation)
• Manage and titrate cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drips, heparin, and diuretics
• Operate unit equipment including Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners; document care using Cerner EMR
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4, with stretch staffing up to 1:5
• Perform and assist with bedside cardioversion as needed
• Float to MedSurg units, other step-down units, COVID unit, and ER holding as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (or compact eligibility) in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of step-down or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Experience with titratable cardiac IV medications required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience
• Flexible, team-oriented, and compassionate approach to patient care
