Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (12-Hour Nights)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency department seeing approximately 120 patients per day, with a patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Manage a diverse acuity mix including cardiac, stroke, trauma, DKA, dialysis, renal failure, CHF, ESRD, LVAD, cancer, and infectious disease cases
• Perform and assist with procedures including NGT tube insertion, IV starts, chest tube management, defibrillation, splinting, and ICU drip management
• Maintain comfort with hall bed assignments and holding admitted patients within the ED
• Utilize Meditech Expanse EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience
• First-time travelers must have a minimum of 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care
• Travelers previously employed as permanent staff at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• PALS or ENPC certification required
• CPI or MOAB certification required
• Demonstrated experience with Stroke/NIHSS protocols and ICU drip management

Preferred Experience / Skills

• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience in a chest pain center or stroke center environment
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse EMR
• Experience managing high-acuity, multi-system trauma patients
