Job Title

Registered Nurse – Surgical PCU / Stepdown (Night Shift) | 13-Week Contract

Contract | Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Rotating Weekends | 13 Weeks | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Surgical PCU, managing a patient ratio of 1:4 (occasionally 1:5)
• Operate and monitor equipment including kangaroo pumps, PCAs, chest tubes, ostomies, PEG tubes, NG tubes, and Foley catheters
• Perform and assist with post-operative care for procedures including tracheostomy, laryngectomy, bowel resections, lobectomies, thoracoscopies, mastectomies, thyroidectomy, and related surgeries
• Manage routine care for JP drains, biliary drains, abdominal/chest tube drains, TPN, and tube feeds, including telemetry monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and maintain strict documentation compliance including admission and shift documentation
• May float to MedSurg, MedSurg PCU, or ED holds as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (or compact equivalent) in the state of Texas
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• BLS certification required
• ACLS / ALS certification required
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR
• Strong time management and critical thinking skills

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior PCU experience strongly preferred
• Tracheostomy care experience preferred
• Team-oriented, positive attitude, and adaptable to a fast-paced surgical environment
