Registered Nurse – Neurology (Medical Surgical / Neuro-Surgical)

Contract (13 Weeks) | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a neurology and neuro-surgical patient population including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms, as well as general medical and psychiatric patients
• Perform strong neurological assessments including NIHSS and dysphagia screening, with basic telemetry interpretation
• Manage strict intake and output monitoring, straight catheterization, Foley catheters, NG tubes, and indwelling drain management
• Initiate and titrate heparin drips; administer blood and blood products; perform venipuncture and blood cultures; manage stable infusions
• Document accurately using Epic EMR (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• May be required to precept nursing students and new hires in this teaching environment

Required Qualifications

• Current, active compact RN license
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of two years of strong, recent neurology nursing experience
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with neuro-surgical patient populations including post-op craniotomies and cerebral angiograms
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and titrate vasoactive and anticoagulant drips in a fast-paced environment
• Strong critical thinking and independent assessment skills with the ability to adapt to change
• Experience floating across campuses or units within a multi-site health system
