NICU Respiratory Therapist

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates
• Manage patients receiving invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, including conventional ventilators and high-frequency ventilation (HFOV/HFJV)
• Manage CPAP, BiPAP/NIPPV, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen therapy; assist with surfactant administration
• Assist with intubation, extubation, airway management, and emergency stabilization; participate in neonatal resuscitation and high-risk deliveries
• Provide respiratory support for neonates undergoing therapeutic hypothermia/cooling
• Obtain and interpret arterial, capillary, and venous blood gases; adjust respiratory support based on patient condition and provider orders

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3–4 years of recent Level III NICU respiratory therapy experience
• Active state Respiratory Therapist license as required
• BLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• Therapeutic cooling experience required
• Ability to independently manage complex, high-acuity neonatal respiratory patients

Preferred Experience / Skills

• RRT credential strongly preferred
• Previous travel assignment experience preferred
• Hands-on experience with extremely low-birth-weight infants
• Experience with neonatal resuscitation and high-risk delivery support
