Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Kearney, NE | Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days (06:30–18:30) or Nights (18:30–06:30) | Every other weekend required | Minimum of 2 holidays within contract period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed PCU unit serving adults with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure diagnoses
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin
• Demonstrate competency with Arterial Lines and manage high-flow respiratory equipment; troubleshoot as needed
• Independently read and interpret telemetry/cardiac monitor strips
• Float as needed to MedSurg or ICU (for PCU-acuity patients)
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4–5 and respond to on-call callbacks within 30 minutes of notification

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Competency with Arterial Lines
• Must successfully pass a unit orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher (open-book, Pass/Fail)
• Artificial nails are strictly prohibited in all patient care areas
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
• Experience caring for culturally diverse patient populations
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing patient acuity and unit needs
