Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (12-Hour Days)

Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite | Every-other-weekend rotation required; alternating 4-day and 3-day work weeks expected

Key Responsibilities

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care across Cardiac and/or Medical PCU units with patient ratios of 1:3–4
• Manage complex cardiac and medical patient populations including post-CABG, post-PCI, TAVR, AICD placement, respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, and ETOH/CIWA protocols
• Titrate cardiac drips, insulin drips, and vasopressors including Esmolol, Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Labetalol, Levophed, Nipride, and Nitro
• Manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, drains/tubes, and wound care
• Perform and interpret EKG monitoring; must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival
• Document accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR; administer medications via Pyxis and manage IV therapy using Alaris pumps

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (or compact eligibility) in the state of Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown RN experience; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 2 years of permanent acute care RN experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must successfully pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
• Candidates previously employed as permanent staff at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• LVAD certification (applicable to Cardiac Stepdown unit assignment)
• Experience managing and pulling venous sheaths, TR Bands, and temporary pacemakers
• Prior cardiac stepdown experience preferred; candidates without cardiac stepdown background may be considered for Medical Stepdown units only
