Contract | Days | 3×12-Hour Shifts (6:00–18:30) | Expected 36–48 hours/week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Function as an on-site EMS provider at a correctional/detention facility, delivering emergency medical care to incarcerated individuals, correctional officers, and other personnel
• Perform advanced cardiac interventions including cardioversion, defibrillation, EKG interpretation, dysrhythmia management, cardiac arrest management, and STEMI response
• Manage chest pain, hyper/hypoglycemia, and blood sugar monitoring
• Perform intra-osseous placement and infusion, IV initiation and maintenance, and phlebotomy
• Administer emergency medications including Narcan and other indicated pharmacological interventions
• Manage and de-escalate situations involving violent behavior in a correctional environment

Required Qualifications

• Active New Mexico EMS License or Provisional License required (pending licensure may be accepted at time of submission)
• NREMT certification required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required (RQI-based certifications are not accepted)
• EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) certification required
• Minimum of 1–2 years of paramedic experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; non-local driver’s license required on file

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working in a correctional, detention, or similarly controlled environment
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records system
• Experience managing behavioral health situations or working with populations requiring de-escalation techniques
