Key Responsibilities

• Assist members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care during the intra-operative period, with a focus on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment
• Assist the surgeon directly during surgical procedures
• Maintain aseptic technique in the performance of all surgical duties to support positive patient outcomes
• Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy and procedure
• Administer care and apply equipment knowledge based on the age and needs of the patient population served, from neonate through geriatric
• Recognize and respond appropriately during urgent or emergency situations

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two (2) years of Surgical Tech experience
• BLS certification required
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification required
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique
