Contract | Days | Variable, 5x8s | Rotating start times (6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, 1:00 PM, or 2:00 PM) | Nights as needed | No call

Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize and perform a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, immunology, microbiology, and referral testing
• Employ positive patient identification procedures to ensure specimen integrity throughout pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases
• Perform proper specimen collection (including phlebotomy as needed), labeling, handling, processing, transportation, and storage
• Review and evaluate validity and accuracy of test results, correlating findings with diagnoses and flagging incompatible results
• Perform, evaluate, and document quality control checks in accordance with prescribed quality assurance policies and procedures
• Document and communicate test results thoroughly, expediting all critical values to appropriate clinicians

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, allied health technologies, or equivalent
• Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience
• Adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratories (NCA)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records system
• 2 or more years of recent clinical laboratory experience
