Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria
• Maintain the sterile field and ensure a safe environment, including recognition and management of sharps and fire safety processes
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for each surgical procedure; may assist with sterile processing
• Assist the surgeon(s) during procedures while remaining within the ORT scope of practice
• Identify emergency situations and exercise sound judgment when implementing emergency response procedures
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program; OR graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six (6) months; OR two (2) years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three (3) years
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety
• Knowledge of surgical services and sterile processing requirements
• Experience responding appropriately in emergency and life support situations within a surgical setting

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
