Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Wausau, WI | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (0500–1700) | Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced, Trauma Level II Emergency Department serving a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro, pediatric, geriatric, and respiratory cases
• Manage 3–4 patients per shift, performing independent assessments and completing tasks in a timely manner
• Draw labs, administer nebulizer treatments, and coordinate care with on-site respiratory therapy and radiology staff
• Utilize EPIC for electronic charting and Pyxis for medication dispensing
• Adhere to all facility infection control policies, including masking requirements during flu season if vaccination is declined
• On-call may occasionally be requested in advance; call-back pay applies if called in during low-census periods

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN License required
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS certifications required (ARC or AHA accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
• Trauma Level II experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must be a self-directed, resilient professional who adapts well to change and manages workload independently

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred; candidates without travel experience must have a minimum of 2 years in a Trauma Level I or II setting
• Experience in a stroke-certified emergency environment
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing systems
