Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (shift start 6:45 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit, including 8 telemetry beds, with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Care for general MedSurg patients, post-operative general surgery, and orthopedic patients in a fast-paced, two-hallway unit layout
- Read and interpret EKG strips and manage telemetry monitoring as required
- Demonstrate competency in drip management, including Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips
- Float to the telemetry unit as needed based on census and staffing requirements
- Document and manage patient care using the Cerner EMR system; bedside report is utilized
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of California
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
- Completion of the Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) through UNA is required prior to acceptance
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry setting
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR
- Experience with post-operative general surgery and orthopedic patient populations
- Comfort working in a high-acuity, fast-paced unit environment
