Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
- Titrate drips including analgesics for pain management, anticoagulants for blood clot treatment, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
- Perform and interpret NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) assessments as required
- Manage respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, and ventilators
- Self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule in alignment with department needs and equitable staff distribution
- Float within designated zone based on unit manager direction and departmental needs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in the state of Kansas or compact eligibility
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Experience with drip titration in a medical/surgical or similar acute care setting
- NIHSS certification or demonstrated competency required
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; valid driver’s license must be submitted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Medical/Surgical unit with similar patient populations
- Familiarity with respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow oxygen, and mechanical ventilation
- Experience working in a self-scheduling or block-scheduling environment
