Job Title
Contract RN – Neuro PCU
Location
Austin, TX | Intermediate Care / PCU / Stepdown
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 13 Weeks | Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a neuro-focused PCU unit at a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Administer and manage IV medication drips and perform continuous cardiac monitoring
- Float as needed to med/surg areas within the floor (ortho/neuro) or elsewhere in the hospital, where ratios may be 5:1 or 6:1
- Utilize Meditech EMR for documentation and patient management
- Collaborate with a shared charge nurse and interdisciplinary team in a cooperative unit environment
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (must obtain prior to start date if not already certified)
- Proficiency with IV medication drips and cardiac monitoring
- Minimum 1 year of PCU or comparable experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with tracheostomy (trach) care
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR
- Neuro patient care background
- Strong teamwork orientation and communication skills
