Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Contract | Days | 4×10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM | Minimum 10-week engagement
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct perioperative nursing care in a high-volume Operating Room setting with a 1:1 patient ratio
- Support a broad range of surgical cases including General, Gynecological, Orthopedic, Plastics, Bariatric, and Laparoscopic procedures
- Perform and assist with procedures such as total joint replacements, arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, hysterectomy, mastectomy, and urological cases
- Operate and manage surgical equipment including electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources; ensure proper specimen handling and labeling
- Adhere to Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures and maintain strict compliance with patient safety standards
- Participate in on-call requirements, including an expected 6 on-call shifts per 6-week schedule, with 2 of those shifts on weekends
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in New Mexico or compact equivalent; NM license may be pending at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (RQI certifications not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room RN experience
- Weekend availability required
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with appropriate documentation
- Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; non-local driver’s license required on file
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Ambulatory OR, Endoscopic/Laparoscopic, Orthopedic/Total Joints, and Bariatric surgical cases
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records platform
- Comfort with urinary bladder catheterization and cystoscopy procedures
- Prior travel nursing experience a plus; first-time travelers will be considered
