Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to NICU patients in a Level III NICU, with a primary census of Level II patients including growers and feeders as early as 24–25 weeks gestation
- Maintain acuity-based patient assignments, with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
- May float to Labor & Delivery to assist with neonatal resuscitation until the infant is stable and through the first 10 minutes of life
- May float to Pediatrics as an additional resource; no patient assignment required in that setting
- Document patient care using Meditech (WOWs provided); administer medications via Pyxis; manage IV therapy using Solaris pumps
- Work 3–4 twelve-hour weekend shifts per 28-day schedule, with scheduling determined by unit leadership based on experience and skill set
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of California
- BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a NICU setting
- Professional scrubs required; no other facility names or logos permitted on scrubs
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for premature infants at 24–25 weeks gestation
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic health records
- Experience with neonatal resuscitation in Labor & Delivery settings
