Surgical Technician

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment prior to the procedure
- Assemble appropriate supplies and equipment and set up operative instrumentation to maintain a sterile field
- Pass instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases while demonstrating careful attention to aseptic technique
- Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards
- Label solutions, clean equipment, and perform housekeeping duties as necessary to maintain a safe operative environment
- Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities and provide clerical duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of recent surgical technician experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor
- Completion of a Scrub Tech course or a minimum of six months of OR experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Associate’s or Technical Degree, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Surgery Technician (CST) certification
- Familiarity with reviewing equipment inventory for assigned surgical specialties
