Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 12-Hour Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Full-Time | Onsite | Every other weekend required; night shift weekends are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday | Holidays rotate with regular staff | Additional shifts may be available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit managing a diverse patient population including chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic, detox, post-operative, and pediatric patients
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 5 patients per nurse
- Document telemetry strip readings faxed from the ICU monitoring team
- Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen in coordination with Respiratory Therapy
- Float to other units as needed to assist as a tasker or additional support
- Accurately document in EPIC EMR system
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS certification (required)
- NIHSS certification (required for all RNs)
- Must have prior travel nursing experience
- Must have EPIC EMR experience
- Strong Med/Surg background required due to variety of patient diagnoses
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification (recommended but not required)
- PALS certification (recommended but not required)
- Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment
- Comfort working in a setting that serves both adult and pediatric Med/Surg populations
