Key Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for a designated group of neonatal patients, delivering care through the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
- Completes initial patient assessments upon admission and develops individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs in accordance with unit standards.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support integration of information across the healthcare team.
- Monitors intake and output for neonatal patient assignments and assists mothers with breastfeeding initiation and baby-friendly care.
- Administers medications using proper barcode scanning procedures and reports on patient assignments during multidisciplinary rounds.
- Promotes patient and employee safety by identifying, reporting, and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or higher.
- Active Illinois RN License in good standing.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification through the American Heart Association.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Experience in a NICU or neonatal care setting beyond the minimum requirement.
