Key Responsibilities
- Implements the physical therapist’s plan of care for patients of all ages, including therapeutic exercise, gait and balance training, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation treatments.
- Provides aquatic therapy (therapeutic exercise in water) as part of patient treatment interventions.
- Adjusts treatment approaches based on patient response and available evidence, following communication and coordination with the evaluating physical therapist.
- Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and other healthcare providers using relevant and effective teaching methods.
- Completes daily documentation and charging accurately within the therapy EMR in accordance with clinical documentation policies.
- Communicates with referring providers regarding patient progress and treatment recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (minimum).
- Active Illinois PTA License required.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- At least one (1) year of relevant clinical experience.
