Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatrics (Nights)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients across specialties including Hematology/Oncology, Medical Surgical, and general pediatrics
- May float across units including NICU, general pediatric floor, and PICU as needed
- Willing to float to the ED to care for inpatient holds when required
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2–4 within a 14-bed unit
- Document and manage patient care using EPIC electronic medical records
- Participate in required holiday coverage — contractors are expected to work 1–2 of the upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- PALS certification (AHA) required
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification required
- Minimum 24 months of Pediatric and/or Oncology RN experience on work history/resume
- Pediatric experience within the previous 18 months required
- Hematology/Oncology experience required
- EPIC EMR experience within the previous 12 months required
- Must have completed at least one prior travel contract within the previous 18 months — first-time travelers are not eligible
- Skills checklist specific to Pediatrics/Oncology required at time of submission
- Valid driver’s license required
- All candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (based on driver’s license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
- Experience floating across NICU, PICU, and general pediatric floor settings
- Familiarity with Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patient populations
