Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 3×12-hour shifts
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a high-volume post-surgical unit serving urology and GYN surgical populations
- Manage a typical patient ratio of 1:7 in a Med/Surg Telemetry setting
- Perform telemetry monitoring including rhythm identification, interval measurements, and recognition of complex and lethal rhythms
- Rotate every other weekend, float as needed, and work holidays within the contract period, including two of the three winter holidays
- Document accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of recent, relevant Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience
- Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in Epic EMR — no exceptions
- Must pass a telemetry/EKG competency test with a score of 80% or higher prior to start; one attempt is given with no remediation available
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; address verification required prior to offer acceptance
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Strong telemetry skills including sinus rhythms, heart blocks, atrial and junctional rhythms, lethal rhythms, and pacing interpretation
- Comfort and experience working with post-surgical patient populations
