Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Transplant)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 07:00–17:30 | Expected 36 hours/week (3x12s) or 40 hours/week (4x10s) | On-call required: 1 shift per week and 2 twelve-hour weekend shifts per month
Key Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care in a high-acuity transplant operating room environment, including liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures
- Perform implantation of donor organs into recipient patients; experience with organ implantation (not solely organ harvesting) is required
- Operate Misonix/CUSA ultrasonic surgical equipment proficiently
- Participate in liver call coverage and perform other OR cases as assigned when transplant cases are not scheduled
- Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs as required
- Complete all required facility modules prior to start date in a timely manner; modules are non-billable and average 6–15 hours
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (pending license considered)
- Minimum 2 years of direct liver/transplant OR RN experience; must be reflected on skills checklist at time of submission
- Strong experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures including organ implantation into the recipient patient
- Proficiency with Misonix/CUSA equipment
- AHA or American Red Cross BLS and ACLS required at time of submission; NIHSS must be obtained prior to start
- Must be nicotine-free; negative 10-panel drug screen including cotinine (nicotine) required
- All requested time off must be submitted at time of application; RTO added after submission will likely not be approved
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the same rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience charting in EPIC
- Background in a teaching or Magnet-recognized facility environment
- Familiarity with EKG interpretation and pharmacology testing (required during orientation)
