Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts) | Onsite | Expected 48 hours/week | Every other weekend and every other holiday required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an 8-bed short stay/observation unit with a 1:4 patient ratio, managing conditions such as anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre/post-op urology and GI cases
- Administer and monitor IV drips including Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, and Heparin
- Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips; complete an EKG exam during compliance onboarding
- Float to all inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU units
- Manage a high volume of admissions and discharges with average patient stays up to 48 hours
- Collaborate with team members and ancillary staff to ensure a positive patient experience while maintaining independent task completion
Required Qualifications
- Active Wisconsin RN License
- BLS certification required (AHA or ARC)
- ACLS certification required (AHA or ARC)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips required
- Compliance with facility masking policy is mandatory for travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccination during flu season — no exceptions
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification highly preferred
- Background in observation units, medical-surgical, or telemetry settings
- Experience managing drips in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and positive attitude in dynamic shift environments
