Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and plans of care for surgical patients in the operating room setting
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical coordinators, and surgical technicians to support patient well-being throughout surgical procedures
- Maintain sterile fields and oversee the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments
- Apply principles of aseptic practice and oversee the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for all surgical cases
- Maintain accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts per policy, and communicate results to the surgeon
- Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and established policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Massachusetts RN license
- ACLS upon hire, or active BLS with AHA ACLS to be obtained within 60 days of hire
- Ability to function effectively in an environment with competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, and a proactive, can-do attitude
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior operating room nursing experience strongly preferred
- CNOR certification strongly preferred
- Familiarity with perioperative standards of practice and aseptic technique
