Key Responsibilities
- Work under the direction and supervision of the attending physician to provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions
- Support the surgeon in carrying out safe operations with optimal results for the patient
- Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate the needs of the surgical patient during the perioperative period
- Primarily 2nd assist within cardiac surgical cases
- Cover regional call to support the Cardiac Surgery program across the health system
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- RN First Assistant (RNFA) certification or equivalent training/credentials required
- Cardiac surgical experience required
- Ability to participate in regional call coverage
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a 2nd assist role within cardiac surgical cases
- Familiarity with perioperative nursing practices across a multi-site health system
