Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across the perioperative continuum — pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative — for patients from birth to elderly
• Direct and coordinate nursing care based on established nursing practice standards, applying age-specific considerations and cultural diversity
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective care and achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients, families, and significant others
• Apply AORN standards in the delivery of surgical nursing care
• Supervise and collaborate with Administrative Assistants, Schedulers, and CSR Techs in coordination with the Charge Nurse

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an NLN-approved institution required
• Current Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Alaska required
• Minimum 1–2 years of Operating Room experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Knowledge of AORN standards and medical terminology
• Proficient oral and written communication skills with the ability to document care delivery actions accurately

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current ACLS certification preferred; PALS also preferred
• National Certification in Surgery or PACU preferred
• Experience utilizing the nursing process independently within prescribed limits and managing care across the continuum
