All inpatients units based on competency (ICU, Step-down, medical/surgical).

Ratios Depends on unit. Med/surg=1:6. Step-down = 1:4/5. ICU = 1-2/3

Required Certifications BLS, ACLS

Common diagnoses/Types of patients Cardiac patients, ortho/neuro, surgical, medical – varies by unit

Experience or ‘Must have’ skills Med/Surg background. Step-down preferred

Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes in the step-down areas only

RNs read strips? Yes. We have monitor techs. CVU reads own strips.
