# Beds 43-Beds (Semi-private) with 9-10 of these are private

Ratios Average ratios 1:5 (can flex up to 1:6)

Required Certifications BLS & ACLS are both required

Common diagnosis / Types of patients Post heart caths, TR Bands, CHF, COPD, Post pacers (no external pacers), medical management or waiting for CABG consult, CHF, COPD, arrhythmias

Experience or ‘Must have’ skills Must be able to read strips, comfortable with these types of patients

Are RN’s required to titrate drips Yes – but only Heparin Common titratable &/or set rate drips Cardizem & Amiodarone are not titrated. Only titrate Heparin & occasionally Lasix or Bumex

Floating Requirements Travelers worked into the float rotation. They could be floated anywhere in the hospital, ICU (rare) & Stepdown; however, they would only be given patients within their skillset.
